Updated: Nov 10, 2020

The Animal & Plant Agency (APHA) is part of DEFRA (Dept for food & rural affairs). Their advice pages can be found on the Gov.uk website.

On 10 Nov 2020 it was reported on that website that an outbreak of avian flu had been discovered in Stroud Gloucestershire. This followed earlier outbreaks in Kent and Cheshire. The disease is highly pathogenic to birds and is a notifiable disease.

The public is advised that if they find dead birds, then these should be reported to the Defra helpline 03459 33 55 77.
