Changing Places Funds available for local authorities - Sept 2021

The Government is aiming to make funds available to provide more Changing Places Toilets. These facilities are specially designed for the needs of persons with various disabilities. This is to help people meet with friends and family with dignity, and without worry about the need to limit liquid intake etc.

According to a Government report ,Demand for these Changing Places Toilets far outweighs supply. There are currently around 1200 such places registered in England. District and Unitary authorities have been invited to express interest and “opt in” to receive a proportion of funding to install these facilities. Retail settings, and Tourism & Leisure locations are the most popular. Parks & Travel networks are also places were users look for Changing Places Toilets.
