Flushing Southwold fatbergs

There will be a four phase flushing of Southwold sewers according to Anglian Water's dedicated website. Starting 25th October 2021 at the promenade, and moving through the town to the residential areas, and then to the golf course area. The work is intended to keep things flowing smoothly and is expected to last until around 1st December 2021.

Some further details are on Anglian Water map website. This says that toilets and other facilities may be used as normal. Water supplies will not be affected. You can expect to see Anglian Water Staff and vehicles , and their contractors in various places during the period of works.

Anglian Water provides some advice:

·" Only flush the 3Ps (that’s pee, poo and paper) down the toilet.

· Always put fats, oils and grease together with food waste in the bin, food caddy or specially adapted garden food digester.

· Used cooking oil can also be taken to the Leiston recycling centre."

Essex and Suffolk Water Company web site also shows works planned in Southwold. Network upgrades are due in Field Stile Road between 3rd to 8th November. Residents can register for updates on the Essex & Suffolk website.
