Locked mobiles banned

With effect from 17th December 2021, Ofcom says that mobile phone companies cannot sell locked handsets to customers. This followed some research by Ofcom which showed that the difficulty in getting handsets unlocked put people off switching service providers.

So, next time customers wish to switch mobile service provider, the problem of a locked handset should no longer be there. Also, there is a simple text-to-switch system meaning that you can get the code you need by sending a free text message .
