Real food shortages?

#Fertilisers are in short supply and the price has significantly risen. Farms are applying slurry to wheat crops but they say this will not be able to replace artificial fertiliser. (Radio 4 Farming today 5.45am 29 march 2022)

On 24th March USA president Joe Biden told reporters about discussions at a meeting of Nato: "With regard to food shortages, yes we did talk about food shortages and it is going to be real. The price of these sanctions is not just imposed upon Russia. It is imposed upon an awful lot of countries as well including European countries and our country as well, and because both #Russia and #Ukraine have been the breadbasket of Europe in terms of wheat for example. We had a long discussion in the G7 with the USA (3rd largest producer of wheat) as well as #Canada which is also a major producer." European nations were urged to end restrictions on sending food abroad.
